CNN (10/08/2019)
  • According to the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), combined annual cases of gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis have risen in the US for the 5th consecutive year to 2.4 million infections.
  • “It’s estimated that young people ages 15-24 acquire half of all new STD cases and 1/4 sexually active adolescent girls has an STD”.
  • The increase is driven by more people getting tested and a decline in condom usage.
  • Among states, Alaska (chlamydia), Mississippi (gonorrhea) and Nevada (syphilis) have the highest rates.
