Whole Foods Suggests That Workers Share Paid Time Off During Coronavirus

VICE (03/13/2020)
  • US grocery chain Whole Foods recently notified store employees that they could “donate” their paid time off (PTO) to each other.
  • They’re also offering unlimited, unpaid time off this month and two weeks paid time off for employees who tested positive for corona.
  • Several employees were offended, instead believing that Whole Foods should cover paid time off instead of asking employees “living paycheck-to-paycheck” to make the sacrifice.
  • The request stings more since Whole Foods is owned by Amazon, one of the richest companies.
