- Restaurant Brands International, owner of Popeyes, Burger King and Tim Hortons, reported that year-over-year Popeyes restaurant sales jumped 42% to $1.3 billion in Q4 2019.
- The spike was driven by the new Popeyes Chicken sandwich, initially introduced in August before quickly selling out in 2 weeks (re-introduced in November).
- CEO Jose Cil: “The traffic driven by the demand of the Popeyes Chicken Sandwich helped drive growth in our entire menu”.
- In response, more Popeyes franchise owners have expressed interest in opening additional restaurants.
