Uber drivers and other gig economy workers are earning half what they did five years ago

  • Uber claims lower average payments are driven by drivers working fewer hours, pointing out that average hourly earnings have remained constant.
  • The share of the US workforce involved in the ‘gig economy’ has risen from 2% to 5%, with half working in transportation on average 10 hours/week.
