- Four (4) Saudi agents who murdered former Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi (2018) received paramilitary training in the US in 2017.
- The training was provided by Arkansas-based Tier 1 Group (owned by private equity firm Cerebus) and approved by the US State Department.
- The training also occurred while the Saudi government launched a campaign to crackdown on internal dissent (kidnappings, torture).
- However, there’s no evidence that the State Department was aware of the crackdown.
- Khashoggi was killed inside the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul (Turkey).
