  • 1855 – Seneca Valley (NY), a largely black settlement, was taken over (eminent domain) by the government to create Central Park.
  • 1898 – White mob destroyed majority-black Wilmington (NC) with goal of overthrowing local government (100 residents killed).
  • 1921 – Tulsa massacre.
  • 1920s to 1970s – Residents in majority-black Anniston, Alabama suffer elevated cancer risk and brain damage due to nearby chemical factories.
  • 1985 – Police dropped a bomb on a building targeting members of black liberation group MOVE (11 people including children killed).
