Summer is over. And the battle to get workers back to the office is heating up

CNN (09/06/2022)
  • Many companies transitioning from fully-remote to hybrid work schedules are facing internal resistance to post-Labor Day mandates requiring employees to return to offices several days per week.
  • Corporate surveys found that 69% of mid-to-large US companies require remote workers to come into the office at least once per week.
  • While US office occupancy rates have doubled since January (2022), they’re still almost 60% below pre-pandemic levels.
  • However, the lingering return-to-office resistance could subside if an economic downturn sparks mass layoffs.
