Val d’Isere: The doctor who hid a Jewish girl

  • In December (1943), German Jewish sisters Huguette and Marion Müller fled Lyon (France) to hide in the French Alpine resort Val d’Isere.
  • Huguette fled Berlin (Germany) to live with her sister in Lyon, which eventually became dangerous.
  • From 1940-1944, 75,000 Jews were deported from France to German concentration camps.
  • After Huguette broke her leg, resort Dr Frédéric Pétri risked his life hiding her in his house for six months.
  • Huguette, now 92 (living in San Francisco), wants Dr Pétri to be memorialized.
