- Huguette fled Berlin (Germany) to live with her sister in Lyon, which eventually became dangerous.

- After Huguette broke her leg, resort Dr Frédéric Pétri risked his life hiding her in his house for six months.
- Huguette, now 92 (living in San Francisco), wants Dr Pétri to be memorialized.
