  • Former Atari employee Ronald Wayne cofounded Apple (1976).
  • Wayne was given a 10% stake to mediate disagreements between the younger co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak; the Steve’s owned the other 90%.
  • Shortly after its founding Apple borrowed $15K to supply machines to Byte Corp; Byte had a reputation for non-payment.
  • To avoid personal liability for Apple’s debts, Wayne sold his shares for $2,300 (currently worth $60B) 12 days after Apple was founded.
  • Wayne doesn’t regret selling his stake.
